What is the difference between BigAppleHead.com and other employment sites?
Other employment sites are marketed towards an older crowd, and spread their interests over a large geographical area. Here at BigApplehead.com we focus our job listings on jobs located mainly in the New York/New Jersey area, as well as Philadelphia- the Greater Metropolitan area. We try to post jobs and internships that are tailored towards college students and recent graduates, unlike other sites where a majority of the jobs require years of experience. We also hope to give students from a wide variety of colleges access to jobs that in the past they may have been overlooked for.

Do I have to pay to search and apply to jobs at BigAppleHead.com?
You do NOT have to pay any money to search the site. It is totally free for job seekers. Yet, if you want to apply to a job that says, "premium membership", then you must pay the premium membership fee

What are the chances of me getting a job on BigAppleHead.com?
Many students ask what our success rate. We have been reported by companies and students that about 1150 positions were filled via our site since May 2002. Naturally, if you are qualified for a position and you gain the favor of an employer, you will be considered for the job
BigAppleHead.com makes no guarantees that you will be placed. We do not make any placement fees on the site.
We do hope for the best in your job search though.

Why should I register and post my resume on Big AppleHead.com?
Unlike other sites, BigAppleHead.com does not have a mandatory registration process in order to view the jobs we have posted. However, students who do register have their resumes placed in our files. As a new service we allow employers to look through these resumes to find the perfect employees for their jobs. We also have a 'Get New Jobs By Email' service where you choose which job categories you prefer, and we conveniently send you all the new job postings for those categories. Registering is uneccessary, but it has many advantages over simply cruising the site. You can register by posting this link into your web browser: http://www.bigapplehead.com/registration.aspx

What happens when I apply to a job?
When you apply for a job or click the "Submit resume/reply" button and attach your resume, your information goes
to the employer that you just applied to. It goes to nobody else besides them. It is up to their discretion
to what they do with your resume and it is up to their discretion if you get a job/internship with them or not.

How do I know when an employer has filled a position?
We have added many new features to our website in order to better serve our users, and one of these features is the 'Job Filled' indicator. We now request that employers posting on our site indicate when they have received enough resumes or have filled the position they were advertising. This saves you the time and energy of applying to a job that has already been taken. As this is a new feature, it has not been completely implemented yet, but you can view a list of employers who have filled their positions on our news page by pasting this link in your web browser: http://www.bigapplehead.com/news.aspx.

Why should I bother replying to a post that is two months old?
With our new 'Job Filled' indicator, it will soon be easy to tell whether or not a job has been filled, no matter how long it has been posted. However, you should apply because there is a possibility that the employer hires on a rolling basis, or has new positions available, and this is why the posting has not been removed.

When will the employer get back to me after I apply for a job?

We cannot give a definite estimate as to when an employer will get back to you or not. Hopefully ASAP.

How do I know which jobs I applied to?

While you are on BAH, you will have purple links which will represent which job listings you have visited.
We currently do not keep track of who you applied to so far.

What if I didn't post my resume?

You do not have to post your resume to apply for jobs. We have facilitated resume submission via the site, even
if one did not store a resume.

Can I attach a picture when replying to a job posting?

Yes you can attach a picture to a job posting, and it may be fine to include it in your resume or cover letter
    attachment.

What is the community Feedback Forum, and why should I use it?
The Community Feedback Forum is a discussion forum we have set up to allow our users to interact with one another, and to get feedback that will help us improve the site. Occasionally we will post a message asking your opinion about something concerning the site, which is very much appreciated. However, we also encourage our users to use the forum to discuss relevant issues - your job searches, where you've found success or failure, helpful tips for the job hunt, etc. Also, if anyone has any funny job hunt stories, or just anything they'd like to share, then feel free to use the forum. However, it is NOT to be used to post jobs. So get to it!

Will I receive any compensation for any unpaid internship or job position?
Due to federal wage and hours law, you will receive course credit as compensation. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to work legally in any unpaid internship or job position if you do not receive course credit.

How do I make sure that I receive credit while doing an unpaid internship or job position?
We advise students who plan to accept unpaid internships or job positions to talk to their employer to ensure that course credit will be given. Students should also consult with their career counselor or major department to ensure that the course credit counts toward their course requirements. Both the school and the employer has to come to an agreement that course credit is acceptable compensation.

We consistently hear that most BigAppleHead viewers strongly prefer not to see the same posting listed multiple times. Please help us out by not overposting your listing... More specifically, please:

    • do not post the same listing more than once every 48 hours
    • do not post the same listing in multiple cities
    • do not post the same listing in multiple categories

How can I post anonymously and still receive responses?

When submitting a posting, you are asked to provide your email address.

We've provided three options for you under this field:

  1. Your email address appears in your posting just as you have typed it.
  2. We hide your email address. We relay responses to your actual email address.
  3. No email address is shown at all - you'll need to provide contact information in the "Other ways people should contact you" box.

Selecting the last two options will guarantee anonymity, but only the second option allows you to receive emails.

I have not received the email that confirmed my job listing, what should I do?

If you have successfully submitted your posting, but have not received the confirmation:

  • If you are using an online email account, please check your bulk mail folder.
  • Did you enter your email address correctly on the posting form? It only takes one typo!
  • Your email provider may be experiencing delays, or be having trouble connecting to BigAppleHead.com for mail. This is especially prevalent these days for some of the free email providers.
  • Do you have an AOL account? Many people with AOL accounts have trouble receiving mail if they are receiving it through the internet.

What kind of postings do you not accept?

Our policies prohibit the following types of listings on our site:

Posting of any franchise, pyramid scheme, multi-level marketing, "club membership", distributorship or sales representative agency arrangement or other business opportunity which requires an up front or periodic payment, requires recruitment of other members, sub-distributors or sub-agents, or pays commissions only (except for postings that make clear that the available job pays commission only and clearly describes the product or service that the job seeker would be selling, in which case such postings may be permissible).

Can I post the same job multiple times?

You should post to the general geographic location of where you are located. The idea is that if someone was looking for a job in the region you provided they would find you.

I saw a listing, I thought was not appropriate for the site, what can I do?

We don't support what amounts to discussions in our posting categories. We consider a discussion posting as any announcement or statement that either unconstructively responds to a previous posting or invites an undirected open response. This is mostly because it generates all sorts of flaming, some directed at us, and causes lots of stress for the people processing postings. If you feel the need to give your opinion please respond to the poster directly rather than publicly.
